Akasya BPV, Inc. was formed as a spin-off of the Akasya Mindanao Group. The group traces it’s history to the establishment of the first Angliongto company in 1917 which established one of the first shipyards in Mindanao. The team of Akasya BPV was initially organized to manage the Samal Shipyard of the group and part of their thrust was to develop a high quality steel fabrication business that would complement the yard’s skills and strengths.

The Akasya group decided to spin-off the coded steel and metal fabrication division as a strategic initiative to focus on the metal fabrication market as new skills, greater capital and a closer access to the market was needed to take advantage of the opportunities in the global market. New capital was raised from foreign financial investors and new equipment was acquired. As an independent company, Akasya BPV continues the legacy of the groups original founders while advancing the technology and skills necessary in today's global market.
